2022 Australian Historic Road Racing Championship

We have had a great couple of days. Left home Wednesday morning with our camper trailer and headed to Morgan Park Raceway Warwick Qld where Simon Reynolds and Billy Freeman were racing P4 Honda 4 Sidecar in Australian Historic Road Racing Championship (number 33). There were 25 Solo classes from P2 to P6 and 3 sidecar classes from P3 to P5.
We set up in the dark at the Morgan Park Dragway camping area.
Thursday morning was good weather and we met up with Simon, Sonja and Warren Reynolds and the boys got the bike and themselves ready for practice. They had 2 practise events, with 9 sidecars in total. Had a great dinner at the club that night.
Friday was great weather again and the boys had 2 qualifying events and qualified in 2nd. Another great dinner at the club.
Saturday race day was another great day, Billy and I got up early and walked the track, found a few small treasures (nuts, bolts, springs), this took 40 mins, a really good walk.
Today is racing with both boys nervous thinking about it. They were 2nd on the grid, they rode a great 4 lap race in both races and finished ln 2nd place. Greg and I went to a few wineries and a lookout.
The Sportmans club put on a great BBQ Dinner that night.
Saturday night was torrential rain and Billy and Taylor got drenched and had to sleep in the car.
Sunday was cool and cloudy. Boys had another 2 races today and finished 2nd and 3rd. The boys over the 4 races came in second place for the Australian Historic P4 Sidecar Championship. Their points tally was 78 out of 100. Not bad for a sidecar that cost less than 10 grand and not been raced for 10 years.
Stayed for presentation and we are really proud of Simon and Billy for doing so well for there first race together and the sidecar is still running.
It’s all up from here, next time 1st
Drove to Grafton and stayed Sunday night and driving home Monday.
Thanks for a great weekend with lots of laughs, great weather and company.

Thanks to Motorcycle Sportsman of Queensland, Wynnum Marine and Pirelli for sponsoring this event.
